What does a typical day in our nursery kitchen look like?
While Healthy Eating Week shines a spotlight on nutrition, helping children develop positive relationships with food is something we focus on every day at Monkey Puzzle Streatham Common.
Our dedicated kitchen team prepares a wide range of meals and snacks on site, giving children opportunities to explore different flavours and textures as they grow.
We know that trying a new food can be a big step for young children. Through positive mealtime experiences, encouragement and repeated exposure to different foods, we help children build confidence, curiosity and independence around food - reflecting our G.R.A.I.N.S values every day.

Our teams at @monkeypuzzlewestnorwood & @monkeypuzzle_streathamcommon completed their Paediatric First Aid training this weekend, delivered by Astrid from @tigerlilytraining, further strengthening their knowledge, confidence and preparedness when responding to emergencies involving babies and young children.
As part of our ongoing investment in our people, we also continue to support professional development through the National College training platform, covering key areas including Early Years Practice, Health & Safety, Safeguarding and Food Safety. This month alone, the team across both our branches have completed over eight hours of additional learning.
By continually investing in training and development, we help ensure children benefit from a safe, supportive and well-prepared environment every day.

Happy World Ocean Day! 🐠
Today, our children explored the wonders of the ocean through a variety of hands-on activities designed to spark curiosity, imagination and learning.
Across the nursery, children enjoyed investigating sea creatures, exploring sensory materials, singing ocean-themed songs, creating artwork and talking about the animals and habitats that make our oceans so special.
Through activities like these, children begin to develop an understanding of the world around them, ask questions, make connections and build confidence through play and exploration.

Last week, our children enjoyed a wonderful visit from @mangotreekids and The Jolly Djembe Club, bringing together music, storytelling, culture and exploration in a truly memorable experience.
From listening to African stories and discovering books that celebrate diversity, to exploring different cultural artefacts and joining in with drumming and rhythm activities, the children were encouraged to learn about the world around them through curiosity and play.
These experiences help children develop confidence, communication skills, respect for others and an understanding that every person, family and culture has a story worth celebrating.

Lauren, our Nursery Manager, loves seeing toddlers’ imaginations come to life through creative play and hands-on exploration 💛
At Monkey Puzzle Streatham Common, our toddlers enjoyed exploring colours, textures and animal prints by dipping the toy animals’ feet into paint and creating their own marks on paper.
While it may look like a simple activity, moments like these help children develop confidence, communication, creativity and fine motor skills through child-led play.
