From planting and harvesting in our growing garden, to creating in the mud kitchen, running their own farm shop, getting creative outdoors and challenging themselves in our adventure climbing area, every space has been carefully designed to support learning through play.

Whether children are climbing, balancing, building, digging, planting or imagining, they are developing the skills that support school readiness, resilience, communication and a lifelong love of learning.

Our Nursery Manager, Lauren, believes those five words are often a sign that your child is ready to learn something new.

Whether it’s helping in the kitchen, putting on their own coat or showing signs they’re ready for more independence with toileting, giving children the opportunity to try can do wonders for their confidence.

Lauren’s other top tip? Swap some screen time for story time.

What does a typical day in our nursery kitchen look like?

While Healthy Eating Week shines a spotlight on nutrition, helping children develop positive relationships with food is something we focus on every day at Monkey Puzzle Streatham Common.

Our dedicated kitchen team prepares a wide range of meals and snacks on site, giving children opportunities to explore different flavours and textures as they grow.

We know that trying a new food can be a big step for young children. Through positive mealtime experiences, encouragement and repeated exposure to different foods, we help children build confidence, curiosity and independence around food - reflecting our G.R.A.I.N.S values every day.
