We want to make sure we are offering you and your children the best possible nursery experience. Therefore, we are always looking for ways to improve and develop what we offer here at Monkey Puzzle Streatham Common.

With that in mind, we have listened to parents and are delighted to announce that we are going to be offering extra curricular activities.

Have a look inside some our amazing extra curricular activities

Immersive theatre and Creative play on the Common with Theatre Bugs

As one of London’s first Under 5s drama, music and dance providers, we are proud to say that we have been in many of our settings since we were first established 19 years ago.

All of our teachers come from drama and musical theatre backgrounds and are performers at heart! They are bursting with energy and enthusiasm and have passed our rigorous training programme. They are DBS checked, hold Public Liability Insurance and are trained in KcSIE and PREVENT. They are monitored frequently by members of Head Office and receive ongoing training and support.

Our stories have been revamped in recent years to ensure they consistently champion strong female characters and break down stereotypical barriers. Princesses take a back seat, while we encourage our girls to become giants, pirates, bears, dragons, knights and superheroes instead! We highlight sensitivity in the male characters in our stories, featuring positive male role models who feel all kinds of emotions and are all the better for it

MiniJam – Musical and Sensory Learning

Minijams offers a fun and modern approach to early-years education through music. MiniJam is as much about the coffees and chat for parents before/after class as it is about the interactive music and sensory experience for their babies and children.

Offering fantastic structured music and imagination classes, Minijams creates amazing sensory experiences for children whilst introducing them to the magic of music and instruments. These sessions are perfect for developing fine and gross motor skills, language, social skills and so much more. All of the structured sessions are “tuned” to encourage dancing, musical movement, singing and, most importantly, lots and lots of fun!

BB Broadway

BB Broadway offer sustainable, inclusive and gender-neutral musical theatre classes in nursery settings for children aged 3 months-5 years old. Sessions are all taught by West End performers and all feature music from your favourite musicals!

BB Broadway is an inclusive business, rewriting the rulebook on nursery rhymes and creating a progressive curriculum that reflects modern society and promotes gender equality, diversity and inclusion. Their classes are welcoming and nurturing to ensure every child gets the very most out of each sessions.

Classes include musical instruments, sensory props, dancing, singing, Makaton signing and, most importantly, lots of fun.

Spanish Lessons

The power of language learning begins at an early age. At La Ola Spanish, we take children on an enchanting learning adventure from jungles to outer space. They become superheroes, magicians, astronauts and everything in between. Children learn best when they are having fun, and by combining imagination, movement and language. At La Ola our goal is that all our learners have lots of fun, as well as making lots of progress on their learning journey with us.

Patricia is the co-founder and director of La Ola Spanish. A native qualified teacher with previous experience in nurseries and schools.

Multi Sports

Before setting up Monkey Puzzle Streatham Common, the Owner and Director of the nursery was a chartered physiotherapist. This involved treating children and adults with Musculo-skeletal injuries. She decided to set up the nursery after observing more and more children coming to see her with postural related issues. Not only this, but they also had underdeveloped gross motor skills and over compensated fine motor skills.

Monkey Puzzle West Norwood is a bit different from other nurseries. Whilst we of course focus on the academic development of our children, we also place a huge amount of importance on MOVEMENT. That is why we are delighted to be starting up extra Multi Sports classes with TotStars as one of our extra curricular activities.

TotStars understand the importance of sport for young children. Therefore, they make it their aim to provide physical activities using fun, action packed drills, keeping children interested and highly stimulated whilst they learn. Each week TotStars will teach the children a variety of popular sports, such as Football, Tennis, Basketball and Archery.

Current government guidelines state children should be physically active 3 hours a day. At TotStars they help children be active but more importantly enjoy being active.
